What is Bioinformatics?

A specialist branch of Science, specifically combining together the areas of Biology, IT and Computer Science and used to help organise and interpret the data gathered and thus solve complex biological challenges.

The Human Genome Project (HGP), looked upon as one of the greatest scientific feats in history, is an example of a large scaled project which was launched in 1990 and declared complete in 2003, carried out and executed by Bioinformatics professionals.
